Survival tips for the MATTA Fair

MATTA fair

We’re gearing up for MATTA fair in KL this coming weekend during the 7th to 9th September and you should be too! For 3 days, 10am to 9pm throngs of people will be filling the halls of the PWTC to buy a holiday. With an expected crowd of 80,000 attending the fair, you need to be at the top of your game to bag those bargains. Here are our top tips that may well secure you the holiday of your dreams.

Come on Friday

Friday is the least busy day, and everyone hates the crowd at the MATTA Fair. When it's busy it means that the travel staff have less time to explain things to you and it makes it harder for you to walk around. Saturday is by far the busiest day and Sunday is pretty busy too.

It's also the best time to nab the cheapest airfares before they are all sold out. The promotional airfares are usually limited, especially for popular dates during the school holidays. So you have to come early and grab them first! Find out what airlines are offering cheap airfares.

Know what you want

We found that 82% of people who come to the fair already know what they want. And that's a good idea. It's much easier to find a good deal if you know where you want to go, because then all you have to do is compare itineraries and price.

This will help you from becoming overwhelmed when you're presented with thousands of offers and also means that you’ll end up with something you actually wanted.

For example, if you only know how much you want to spend - you'll be in for a bad time. With so many good deals going around, and so many different itineraries you'll need a whole extra day just to sort through what you have collected. Come with a strong idea of what you want and how much you will be willing to pay. Then just find someone who can fulfill it.

Finding out what each agency offers is also a good idea so you know who to visit for what you want. We've made it easy for our customers to know what we offer by creating one page with all of them on it.

Be prepared before you come

Wear comfy shoes (no high heels, ladies!) and bring a bottle of water - the halls can get pretty hot and you need to be in it for the long run. No one will be able to give away their bottle of water for free as the staff will need them after talking all day.

For the best last minute deals, come on Sunday

Some travel agencies may be willing to give a discount late on a Sunday, as it is the last day of the fair. Just don't leave it too late otherwise you will have to go home without a holiday!

Enter the competitions

Plenty of travel agencies run competitions where you can win holidays, even without having to purchase a holiday. Make sure you enter the competitions and who knows, you could score a free holiday. We'll be running a free competition, just come visit us in Hall 1 or 2.

Don't forget to visit us at Hall 1: 1320 - 1339 or Hall 3: 3257 or visit our MATTA Fair page.
